About Us

The Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women. The remaining net income (a minimum of 25 percent) supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.

The Puget Sound Affiliate’s services area covers 16 counties in the Puget Sound area. Thanks to the thousands of people who participant in the Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure and other Affiliate events each year, dedicated corporate partners and generous donors, the Puget Sound Affiliate is playing a vital role in fighting breast cancer in our community.

A Message from Cheryl Shaw, Executive Director of the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure

I am pleased to announce that in fiscal year 2010 the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure awarded $2.2 million in community grants.  We also persist in increasing awareness and access to screenings in targeted areas, continue to fund ground-breaking research to find the cures for the disease and advocating on behalf of medically underserved women and breast cancer survivors. We know our success is not possible without you, and we appreciate your support in helping us work toward a world without breast cancer.

Please see our annual report (below) that shows the impact of our collective efforts over the past year.  Thank you!
