The Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Advocacy Alliance (KAA) is the non-partisan voice for over 2.5 million breast cancers survivors and the people who love them. Our mission is to translate the Komen promise to end breast cancer forever into action at all levels of government.
The Puget Sound Affiliate’s grassroots advocacy efforts and meetings with state legislators resulted in the retention of the $1.5 million threatened elimination of funding from the Washington State Breast, Cervical and Colon Health Program (BCCHP) by the governor in the state’s supplemental budget last year. The Affiliate appreciates those of you who attended meetings, provided testimony, and wrote your legislators.
Looking at the 2011-2013 biennium, the Puget Sound Affiliate must emphasize that cutting funding for cancer screenings is not just another line item in the budget. It can literally mean the difference between life and death. To learn more about this and what you can do to help, please visit www.komenadvocacy.org/
For more information on our local advocacy efforts please contact Elisa Del Rosario, Director of Grants, Education and Advocacy at 206.633.0303, ext. 105 or Elisa@pskomen.org
